Chris Casola is the Associated Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Welfare and Performance at Liberty University. In his current role, Casola manages all aspects of student-athlete welfare and performance for all of Liberty’s NCAA Division I student-athletes. While doing that, he also provides administrative oversite of Champion Performance; sports medicine, nutrition, athletic performance, applied performance, clinical and sports psychology and spiritual development. The primary focus of the Champion Performance Team is to ensure that student-athletes are developed and cared for in a holistic manner; physically, mentally and spiritually.

Dr. Godfrey provides Mental Health Coaching and Consulting for individuals and mental health providers around the globe. He speaks and educates groups, churches, and mental health providers on issues related to mental health and human sexuality.
Dr. Godfrey is a Clinical Sexologist, Certified Christian Counselor, a Certified Sex Addiction Specialist Supervisor, and a Certified Mental Health Coach. He previously worked as a Licensed Professional Counselor for 23 years, and an approved supervisor with the Board of Behavioral Health. He received his education from Arizona State University, Ottawa University, and the International Institute for Clinical Sexology. Dr. Godfrey worked for nine years with the City of Tempe Social Services, as a supervisor assisting school-age children and their families. He has worked in a variety of mental health settings both as a professional and within church ministry.
Dr. Godfrey is a member of SASH (Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health) and the AACC (American Association of Christian Counselors). He is often known for research and intervention with those who struggle with sexualized attachments and eroticized emotions. His recently published book is entitled: “Healing & Recovery – Perspective for Young Men with Sexualized Attachments”. Christopher H. Rosik, Ph.D., is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Oregon and earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from Fuller Graduate School of Psychology. He is currently a psychologist and director of research at Link Care Center in Fresno, California, as well as a clinical faculty member of Fresno Pacific University. Dr. Rosik has professional interests that include the psychological care of missionaries and clergy, the dissociative disorders, and persons with unwanted same-sex attractions and behaviors. He has published more than 50 articles in peer reviewed journals on these and other topics and has made presentations across America and in Europe. Dr. Rosik has served as President of the Western Region of the Christian Association for Psychological Studies (CAPS) and the Alliance for Therapeutic Choice and Scientific Integrity. He is a member of the American Psychological Association, International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation, and the National Association of Social Workers.

Dr. Jeremiah Sullins is a Professor of Psychology at Harding University and the Director if the Center for Cognitive Studies. Dr. Sullins has also been working with Liberty University Online since 2012. As a cognitive psychologist his primary interests are in the learning sciences. His research focus is on learning/educational technologies, with branches extending into emotions, pedagogical strategies, tutorial dialogue/interaction, mechanisms of feedback, and question asking. He received his Ph.D. in experimental psychology from the University of Memphis.

Dr. Hinkley is a professor in the online Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Liberty University. She has been teaching counseling classes at Liberty for 35 years while also serving in various administrative roles, including Executive Director, Associate Dean and Department Chair for the online program. Dr. Hinkley is also a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and a Nationally Certified Counselor. She practiced as a professional counselor for 19 years in a part-time private practice. Her current research includes counselor education program success, faculty/student success, and women’s issues.

In this episode, Drs. Kevin Hull, Ken Miller, and David Jones discuss their methods for integrating their faiths with the case conceptualization model.
Dr. Kevin Hull owns and operates Hull and Associates, P.A. a private practice in Lakeland, Florida. Dr. Hull is a licensed counselor who has worked with children and adolescents and their families on the Autism spectrum since 2001. He conducts weekly individual and group therapy sessions with children, adolescents, young adults, and families. Dr. Hull has been a professor for 18 years and is currently a CORE assistant faculty in Liberty University’s online counseling degree. Dr. Hull has published Play Therapy and Asperger’s Syndrome: Helping Children and Adolescents Grow, Connect, and Heal through the Art of Play (2011, Jason Aronson); Bridge Building: Creating Connection and Relationship between Parents and Children and Adolescents on the Autism Spectrum (2012, Liberty Press); Group Therapy Techniques with Children, Adolescents, and Adults on the Autism Spectrum (2014, Jason Aronson); and Where There is Despair, Hope (2015, Liberty Mountain Publishing), a novel about play therapy. He has also published several chapters for textbooks and journal articles. Dr. Hull specializes in using electronic devices in group and individual play therapy and his dissertation work examined the use of video/computer games as a play therapy tool for children with emotional difficulties. Dr. Hull enjoys open water swimming in the Gulf of Mexico, playing golf, long walks, biking, and spending time with his wife, Wendy and their four children.
Dr. Miller counseled individuals and couples for many years as a pastoral counselor before becoming a clinical mental health counselor and counselor educator. In addition to his current academic duties, he serves as a Chapter Faculty Advisor (CFA) for the Chi Sigma Iota Rho Eta online student chapter Rho Eta Sigma Epsilon. Dr. Miller has co-authored a clinical textbook on case conceptualization; written chapters for textbooks; and presents at national, state, and local counseling workshops. With colleagues, he has developed a Biblical wellness model that helps churches address emotional health issues. His research interests include Biblical wellness, attribution theory, and problematic pornography use. As a licensed professional counselor, Dr. Miller works with individuals, couples, and adolescents treating a wide spectrum of mental health issues. He serves as a clinical director for a non-profit community counseling agency that treats general mental illness and is also regionally known for treating trauma.
As a counselor educator, Dr. Jones has taught in clinical mental health, marriage & family, and school counseling programs. As a professional counselor, he has worked with individuals, couples, and families, across the lifespan, and in a variety of settings (K-12, private practice, hospital, community agency, and church). Before his career change to a counselor educator, Dr. Jones worked as an epidemiologist for over a decade. Through these experiences, he is able to build a bridge between professional counseling and public health. Dr. Jones’ scholarly interests include prevention, health disparities, mixed methods research, community-based participatory research, and spirituality/religion in counseling. Dr. Jones teaches students from all over the country who are pursuing an online counseling degree at Liberty University.

In this episode, Dr. Karin Dumont discusses the pivotal work she has done in the field of addiction counseling. She covers her experience in the field, advice for other counselors, and how she integrates her faith into her work.
Dr. Karin Dumont is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor, a National Certified Counselor, a Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor, a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist, and an Approved Clinical Supervisor having earned a PhD in Professional Counseling in 2010. Dr. Dumont was inducted into Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society International, the Rho Eta chapter of Liberty University in 2016. Dr. Dumont practiced for over 20 years in the profession of counseling, having specialized in addiction counseling, clinical community mental health counseling, and counseling at-risk youth. She has extensive experience in regular outpatient, intensive outpatient, and inpatient crisis stabilization and detox services. Dr. Dumont, also, has experience in the area of school counseling. She has taught as a faculty member in the CACREP accredited graduate clinical counseling program within the Department of Counselor Education and Family Studies at Liberty University for 14 years. Dr. Dumont has, also, taught undergraduate psychology at both Liberty University and Methodist University. In addition, she has taught undergraduate sociology at Liberty University.
Dr. Dumont played an instrumental part in the development of the Masters of Arts in Addiction Counseling program at Liberty University. Her teaching interests are comprised of clinical mental health aspects to include psychopathology and clinical diagnosis, group therapy, and addiction topics. Her research interests lie in the area of addiction and relationships, the role of attachment in development, and the impact of the supervision relationship in counseling students’ skill development. Dr. Dumont serves as co-chairperson on the advocacy committee for the Department of Counselor Education and Family Studies. This committee provides and addresses advocacy for the profession of counseling, mental health itself, along with a focus on how to improve the integration of advocacy into the counseling program coursework. She is also active as a student faculty advisor and provides supervision to students in internship. Along with service to counseling students, Dr. Dumont has recently taken on the service role of Narrative Writer for the NCMHCE with the National Board of Certified Counselors. She is active in presenting at workshops and conferences on mental health and addiction topics on the national, regional, state, and local level. She has also been an active dissertation chair and reader for doctoral students.

Dr. Wheelus came to Liberty University after eleven years of experience in college student affairs, most recent of which was as a university’s director of counseling, disability services, and career development. He has also worked in a variety of other counseling settings: hospital, juvenile justice, private practice, and volunteer career counselor at an alternative high school. Dr. Wheelus and his wife, who is also a professional counselor, enjoy providing co-counseling to couples and missionaries. They have lived overseas in four countries and occasionally travel overseas to provide counseling and marriage enrichment to expatriates. Dr. Wheelus has held several offices in the Georgia College Counseling Association (GCCA) and has been a member of several professional organizations and has presented at the state, regional, and national levels on career development. Dr. Wheelus loves teaching and training new counselors. Most of all, he loves the wonder of discovering new adventures that God brings in life’s journey.
Dr. Angela Wheelus came to Liberty University after ten years of experience in college counseling and private practice. Prior to her counseling career, she lived and served overseas in five countries with her husband (also teaches at Liberty) and children. As a licensed counselor, Dr. Wheelus has experience working with young adults, student veterans, and missionaries dealing with issues such as: multicultural issues, trauma, grief, suicidal ideation, life transition issues, anxiety, and depression. Dr. Wheelus loves mentoring counselors-in-training, supervising new counselors, and counseling women. Most of all, she loves watching God work wonders through the counseling process.

In this episode of the Mental Healthy Podcast, Shaila Toriy discusses her work with Valeo, a company offering Gospel-based clinical care to global workers. She also goes into depth into EMDR, a useful mental health treatment technique that can be used to heal patients from trauma and other distressing experiences.
Shaila is a Brazilian TCK (Third Culture Kid) who grew up in Holland, the United States, and mostly Austria. While in Brazil she pursued her Clinical Psychology degree and there got licensed. Shortly after, God called her to serve in China as a Psychologist catering to the expat community in Shanghai working with children, adolescents, and adults with a variety of mental health disorders within an outpatient hospital clinic. It was there her heart saw the need for member care for global workers. It was also there she met and married her Japanese-Brazilian husband, Lucas. They were in China a total of 5 years when God called them to pursue Biblical-based education to prepare for the next steps of service. This brought them to Columbia, where Shaila was able to pursue an MA in Member Care at Columbia International University and join Valeo. Her heart beats for those who are serving God in a cross-cultural setting and to be able to serve them through counseling. Shaila & Lucas live in Brazil with their son, Noah.
